Snowshoeing in Pirin Mountains on April 28-29th

Our last snowshoeing trip this winter was a weekend long one to the highest parts of Pirin Mountains. Route started by taking the chair lift to Bezbog Hut at 2230 meters above sea level. The aim for the day was Tevno Lake Shelter – the most isolated hut in Pirin Mountains, usually not very easy accessible in winter. Hut is located at 2500 meters in the cirque of Belemeto. It took us about 6 hours to reach it, passing via the biggest lake in Pirin – Popovo Lake, and crossing one of the high cols of the mountain. The temperatures were relatively low for the end of April and some high clouds covered the sky for the whole day. On the next morning we’ve climbed the remote Dzangal Peak (2730 m.) and went back to our starting point crossing Valyavishki Cirque.
