Icho has been working as a mountain guide since 2009. His speciality and passion is mountain biking. He guides both Bulgarian and foreign bikers around the country and also organizes trips for Bulgarians outside Bulgaria, including the Himalayas and Canary islands. As a member of the team of Bikearea he participates in the development of many new biking routes around the mountains of Bulgaria. Since the summer of 2011 he has been working with children as an instructor in outdoor adventure camps. He is also one of the developers of Balkanche.
He grew up in the foot of Central Balkan Mountains and feels connected to them from childhood. He visits the other high Bulgarian mountains – Rila, Pirin, Vitosha, the Rhodopes – on foot, on a bike or on skis, quite often. He’s been guiding bike expeditions to the less known Bulgarian mountains as Slavyanka, Belasitsa, Ograzden, Maleshevska, Vlahina, the mountains in Kraishte area and so on. He’s been doing kayaking trips along the biggest Bulgarian rivers. He has visited different mountain ranges in Macedonia, Romania, Greece, Slovakia, Chezh Republic and Germany. Also, he’s been to the Nepal Himalayas on a bike and on foot.
Been to Nepal, Canary islands, around the Balkans, has visited Central and Eastern Europe on a train and while hitchhiking.
Peter, Belgium: 2 day hiking in the Rila Мountains
We (2 Belgian families with kids) enjoyed this month a great 2 day hiking trip in Rila mountains (7 lakes + mountain hut + Rila monastery).
Very good support from Lyuben in preparing the trip. Appreciated a lot the effort to adapt last minute the schedule with one day upon our request..
Itcho was the actual guide during our trip. Excellent knowledge of the mountains and history of Bulgaria. Good English. Very mature in guiding our mixed group.
