A three day ski touring program in the Northern Pirin Mountains. The sleepover is in a remote high mountain hut – Tevno Ezero Hut, located at 2500 in the middle of the mountains and in the small village of Dobrinishte in the foot of the mountains.
The terrain is not difficult in general, but a decent physical condition is required from the participants. We also expect from you to be familiar with the parallel curves in various snow conditions – powder, slush, crust, firm snow, to have the required equipment and obtain a valid insurance for the duration of the trip. This program is suitable for people that do not put the stretch on the technical skiing and rather enjoy being in the mountains in winter, without doing any challenging slopes. Best period: March-April.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Sofia-Gotse Delchev Hut – Bezbog Hut – Dobrinishte Village
Drive from Sofia to Gotse Delchev Hut, located above the village of Dobrinishte – 2,45 hours. We’ll take the chair lift up to 2240 m at Bezbog Hut. Instructions and practice with the avalanche equipment. Skin up to Mount Bezbog at 2645 m and descent to Gotse Delchev Hut at 1450 m. Drive to the village of Dobrinishte (20 min) and accommodation there.
Day 2: Dobrinishte Village – Tevno Ezero Hut
We’ll take the lift again but this time will go towards Tevno Ezero Hut. We’ll reach the hut in about 5 hours skinning up plus a couple of nice descents in between. Some of the nearby peaks may be our objectives for the afternoon. Accommodation in the hut.
Please keep in mind that the conditions in the hut are quite basic – dormitories, no hot water, no shower, only a limited choice of food and drinks is available.
Day 3: Tevno Ezero Hut – the village of Dobrinishte/the town of Bansko
Depending on the weather and terrain conditions we’ve got a few options on that day: to skin up and ski down a couple of peaks on the way back to the village of Dobrinishte or to take a different route towards Bansko. About 6 hours total. Drive back to Sofia.
