Rila and Pirin National Parks Classic Routes

A 8-day tour in the Rila and Pirin National Parks. We will explore 3 different areas – the Northwestern Rila – Govedarsi, with the peaks of Musala and Malyovitsa, the area of the 7 Rila Lakes and the Pirin Mountains with two locations – Bezbog and Vihren Valley. We will stay in 3 different accommodations in Govedartsi, Bansko and Sapareva Banya.

We’ll travel to the most interesting parts of Rila and Pirin mountain ranges of Bulgaria, climb up or use ski facilities whenever possible to gain elevation and start touring in the alpine zone between 2000-29000 m of elevation. Once we get into the backcountry we will find the best slopes and snow to ski back down. Of course we will benefit from the top advantage of the mountains around the Balkans – the low number of visitors during winter – which will give us the strong feeling of solitude and connection with the mountains, and, of course, the numerous options to ski untouched slopes, away of the crowds.

Accommodation will be at the foot of the mountains in comfy hotels and guest houses, but we also have an option to do a two-day loop with overnight in a hut instead of a night in a hotel. The itinerary is designed in order to show the most of the Rila and Pirin ranges and provide different touring options in each area, given the current weather and snow conditions during your visit.
