Pirin§Rila Ski Touring

This is our alternative itinerary for a week long ski touring trip in the mountains of Bulgaria. We are based in a family hotel in the ski town of Bansko for 4 nights, then we spend 2 nights in the small village of Govedartsi in the Rila range. We`ll have 3 full days of touring in Pirin – the peaks of Polezan, Hvoynati/Vihren and Todorka, and two days to visit Rila – the highest peak of the Balkans – Mount Musala and the Malyovitsa valley. Final day to visit the capital of Sofia on the way back home. Additionally we`ll visit the traditional restaurants of Bansko and the open air thermal pools in the area.

Required equipment:

*Touring skis; ski touring bindings with ski/walk mode and brakes or straps; climbing skins; ski crampons; poles; AT ski boots – with rubber sole and ski/walk mode.

*Personal Rescue Equipment – beacon, shovel, probe.

Rucksack 35-45l, water and wind proof pants and jacket with hood, 2 pairs of gloves – a tiny ones for touring and ski gloves, sun glasses, sun block, sun hat, warm hat, ski goggles, travel liner for the huts, water bottle or flask (1l), snacks, personal first aid kit.

Just back from a fantastic ski touring week in Rila and Pirin mountains!
I was with Kofe who was walking the extra mile for us having superb skiing away from the crowd.
Highly recommended! (Not to forget the overall organization by Lyuben aswell!)
